Hansen survival suit
Norwegian survival expert, Hansen Protection, has developed a new rescue suit which will help save valuable time.
The SeaSwim Work suit is intended for use by fire brigades and rescue personnel and is suitable for surface swimming in operations from both helicopter and boat. Along with improved response times, the new suit will also increase comfort for wearers.
Knut Åsle, product manager at Hansen Protection, said: “This is an extremely demanding user base. Therefore we have devoted substantial resources to produce a suit that sets a new standard in its class, with good mobility and comfortable materials.”
Users can choose between three different materials: GoreTex Nomex III, which is highly flame retardant, GoreTex Pazifik, which is lighter but not as flame retardant, and Hansen Protection Superlight, the lightest of the three but not flame retardant.
The suit also features the smart neck closure, Hansen’s ‘Adjustable Neck Seal’, first used in the SeaAir Europe Pilot Suit. This gives the user the possibility to vent through the neck seal while it is in standby mode.
Users believe the SeaSwim Work Suit will set a new standard for this type of survival suit.
Erik Fredriksen, instructor with the Norwegian Scuba Association, said: “The buoyancy of the suit is so small that one can easily dive with no need for a lead belt.”
“It saves highly valuable time associated with surface rescue,” he added.
