HAROPA investment
A total of €57m is being invested in the HAROPA Port of Le Havre in preparation for the development of the offshore wind industry in the region.
In 2011, manufacturers chose Upper Normandy territory in France to develop the offshore wind power industry. In order to make the land available and suitable for the industrial facilities, significant investments must be made by the Grand Port Maritime du Havre (GPMH).
The port says the funding is an “important step” and will allow companies connected with the GPMH and public stakeholders to develop the new energy sector in Haute-Normandie.
Work will be carried out to strengthen public port infrastructure to create optimal conditions for the facilities.
The land is scheduled to be available for industrial activities during 2015 and all work is expected to be completed by 2017.
