Hybrid drive award

Developments in hybrid technology in the marine industry will once again be recognised in the 2012 competition for the biennial Mansura Trophy arranged by the Royal Thames Yacht Club and supported by Bosch Engineering GmbH.

Vessels eligible for consideration must have at least two independent sources of propulsive power and the final drive system must be electrical.

“We have seen a substantial growth in hybrid technology in marine applications and a variety of other industries, said Jack Edwards from the Royal Thames Yacht Club. “The most visible are in the automotive industry, some involving our partner Bosch Engineering, and we know that the Mansura Trophy both reveals and encourages such developments in the marine industry. We also believe that hybrid technologies could cross over from one industry to another and we hope to further encourage this with the 2012 Trophy.”
