Interspill Working Together with the IMO
With the spill industry offering more prevention, better response and serving wider markets across Europe and the world, the need for a platform to demonstrate the strengths of the industry and to communicate its message is fulfilled by the Interspill 2009 Conference and Exhibition.
‘Working Together’ is the theme for Interspill 2009, to be held at Parc Chanot, Marseille, France on 12-14 May 2009. The benefits of cooperation are visible to all, and the event will aim to profile and highlight how much has been achieved thus far, as well as what can be done in the future.
Building on the ‘Working Together’ theme, Interspill welcomes the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which will hold the 4th R &D Forum at Marseille. The theme for this major event will be Hazardous & Noxious Substances (HNS) in the Marine Environment.
Interspill 2009 is part of a triennial series of events. The International Oil Spill Conference in the United States, the Spillcon conference in Australia and Interspill in Europe all operate on a three year cycle to ensure that there is only one major international event for the oil spill industry each year.
The combination of these two events will enable coverage of a broader range of related topics addressing the technical, scientific and legal aspects of spill prevention, preparedness and response for both oil pollution in the marine environment and HNS in the marine environment.
The free to attend Interspill exhibition will enable visitors to meet with many of the world’s leading suppliers of oil spill prevention and response products and services, whilst the three day conference will see invited speakers from all continents addressing the critical issues facing the industry. Offered the day before the conference opens, a range of workshops are available, aimed at both experienced operators and new entrants to the field.
A range of social events has been planned specifically to encourage informal meetings, kicking off with a gala cocktail reception at 18:00 at the Palais du Pharo, which is perched on a cliff enjoying a magnificent view over the Port of Marseilles. On the following evening a sponsored wine trail through the exhibition halls will encourage visitors to sample the wines available at various exhibitor stands and guess their identity.
