JRC celebrates 100 years
Japan Radio Company (JRC) is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year.
The Japan Radiotelegraph Manufacturing Company, as it was previously known, was founded in December 1915.
It only took a year for its first product, a radiotelegraph unit, to be developed and installed on a rescue vessel.
The company changed its name to JRC in 1940. It says the anniversary is a proud occasion for the company, having delivered a century of innovations, knowledge and trust.
In 1953 JRC was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the company continued to be heavily involved in unique projects. In 1970 it produced a generation satellite communication terminal for Inmarsat.
More recently, 2015 has seen the introduction of, what is said to be, the world’s smallest and lightest Solid State S-band scanner.
The JRC group now comprises of ten subsidiaries and five affiliated companies including most recently a partnership with Alphatron Marine in the Netherlands.
