Kooiman signs SWATH maintenance contract

Dutch shipyard, Kooiman BV, has signed a contract with Dutch Pilotage Service for the maintenance of two Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) catamarans.

Maintenance work has already begun on 'Cetus'

Under the contract, Kooiman will provide refit services to extend the economic life of the 26m catamaran vessels, Cetus and Perseus, which were originally built in 2005.

A new hybrid propulsion system and new generator sets will be added to increase the propulsion power of the vessels. The electrical and nautical installations, cooling water systems, interior and accommodation will also be modified.

Work on Cetus is now underway, while Perseus will be docked at the beginning of 2016.
