MacGregor winches for tugs
MacGregor, part of global cargo company, Cargotec, has won an offshore winch contract from three Chinese shipyards: Fujian Southeast, Fuzhou Baima and Guangdong Yuexin Ocean Engineering.
The offshore winches, which will be delivered between August 2013 and March 2014, will be installed on 22 anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSVs) under construction for a number of international owners.
Francis Wong, director, sales and marketing, MacGregor, said: “Our offshore winches have been specified for a run of new series small and medium AHTSV developments in the 60m to 65m range.”
“Most of these vessels have enhanced equipment and vessel specifications in response to the increased demands from charterers and oil companies in the South East Asia and Middle East regions. These include DP2 capabilities, increased bollard pull and more deck space. Our winches form an important part of these vessels’ advanced capabilities,” he added.
Elsewhere, MacGregor has secured a new contract for a 120 tonnes active heave compensated (AHC) offshore crane and two 10 tonne offshore cranes from South Korean Shipyard, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The larger crane is designed for operating at depths of around 500m at an outreach of 12m, while the two smaller auxiliary cranes will operate at depths of 350m at 15m outreach.
The cranes will be installed on a new 123m specialised dive support vessels being built for UK based Subsea 7.
