Marine couplings showcase
UK-based Renold Hi-Tec Couplings is showcasing its range of power transmission couplings for marine applications at this year’s SMM trade fair, taking place in Hamburg in September.
On show will be the innovative HTB-GS coupling which is a second generation coupling derived from the existing HTB range. The company says its fail-safe design ensures continuous operation of the driveline and its silicone rubber blocks have a 200 degree Celsius temperature capability. It is a blind assembly coupling that allows easy assembly in bell housings where ambient temperatures can be high.
Also on show will be the VF coupling, a flexible coupling designed for diesel and gas engines that are mounted separately from the marine gear and which can be placed on flexible mounts. It dampens torsional vibration, tunes the torsional response of the system and absorbs the unavoidable misalignments between the engine and the gear.
The MSC marine propulsion coupling will also be showcased. It’s designed so that the rubber elements in the coupling can be changed without the need to move either the engine or the gearbox. It has a low torsional and high axial and radial misalignment capability with good noise attenuation.
