Milestone reached for MaXccess System
The UKs Osbit Power (OP) has reached a milestone with its MaXccess-T12 access system for Scira Offshore Energy Limited, it has just completed its Lloyds witnessed factory acceptance tests.
The system will go into service shortly at Sheringham Shoal windfarm off the coast of Norfolk, UK. The tests mark a milestone in OP’s development of the system which, at the beginning of the year was waiting to be trialed.
Ben Webster, sales and marketing manager, OSBIT Power, told Maritime Journal : “Vessel operators are adapting existing vessels and those in build to accommodate MaXccess. We see growing acceptance of MaXccess as a safer more weather tolerant means of transfer and hope this contributes to a safer more cost effective industry.”
Dr Tony Trapp, CEO, Osbit Power, added: “A programme of extensive trials was conducted in conjunction with Siemens, Statoil and Fred Olsen Windcarrier in the spring of 2012. Following these trials Siemens bought the first MaXccess system this summer and quickly put it into service at RWE and SSE’s Greater Gabbard. And now a second MaXccess is to go into service at Sheringham Shoal.”
The first MaXccess System, currently installed on the 19m Iceni Defiant, operated by Iceni Marine, has carried out many safe transfers and increased the transfer capability of the vessel significantly. Iceni Marine plans to fit other vessels in its fleet with OP’s MaXccess System.
