MONALISA project extended
The Swedish Maritime Administration has issued an extension of the ongoing MONALISA project, MONALISA 2.0, to implement actions and studies that will encourage the deployment of new maritime services and processes.
This includes renewing its application with the European Commission’s TEN-T programme to further develop the Motorways of the Sea concept, which aims to improve the safety and optimisation of major shipping routes in Swedish and Finnish waters.
The extended project will re-use the results and experience from the development within the aviation sector and its SESAR (Air Traffic Management) programme. It will also demonstrate new technology to enhance safety and will integrate route planning tools with additional environmental information and maritime spatial planning.
A close cooperation has also been established with the DG MARE CISE programme (Common Information Sharing Environment) to exchange experiences and results with Coastal States.
The total budget of the MONALISA 2.0 project, which is being implemented between 2012 and 2015, amounts to €24m.
The project consortium consists of a large number of public, private and academic partners, covering the Baltic Sea, North Sea and Mediterranean Sea, as well as the EU Member States Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, United Kingdom and Italy, among others.
