MoU for renewable energy research
The UK’s National Renewable Energy Centre, Narec, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a top Swedish research institute to strengthen existing capability in offshore renewable energy.
The MoU with the Technical Research Institute (SP) will also allow further collaborative R&D activities.
A spokesperson from Narec, told Maritime Journal: “We are in discussions with SP in relation to a number of collaborative European projects related to our offshore wind demonstration site, wind turbine blade testing and cabling projects.”
For Narec, this cooperation marks the next stage of development in terms of reinforcing its links with European research centres.
Ignacio Marti, chief technology officer, Narec, added: “Narec and SP have been working together for a number of years but formalising this relationship will be beneficial to both parties, allowing us to exploit one another’s strengths and extend the scope and focus of our commercial and research activities.”
On a wider scale, this relationship will build upon the existing partnerships that exist between The North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Arts Council England and Region Vastra Gotaland.
The organisations are working together to increase trade flows and share business knowledge.
