Navalu presents ‘SeaFox’
French shipbuilder Navalu has introduced its latest offshore windfarm service catamaran on a visit to the Port of Ostend.
Navalu says the SeaFox is the first aluminium offshore windfarm service vessel built in France with Bureau Veritas approval, for British shipowner Enviroserve Ltd.
The catamaran weighs some 72 tonnes and has been built with an aluminium hull. It measures 24m in length, with a 9.90m beam and a draft of 1.75m.
Navalu designed the vessel to transport up to 12 technicians and 12 tonnes of cargo simultaneously at high speeds for offshore windfarm installation and maintenance work.
The first sea trial showed the four main engine installation delivering high speed performance in excess of 24 knots at 90% of the main engine power rate, and despite difficult sea conditions.
