Neptune delivers Eurocarrier for GSS BV
Neptune Shipyards in the Netherlands delivered a new Eurocarrier 2395 named Sandy M to GSS BV last month.
This is the second ship to be supplied to the Dutch branch of GSS. The Mena C of Rhu, a Eurocarrier 2611, was put into service in December 2011. Aside from this, the GSS head office already has a wide range of Eurocarriers in service.
The Sandy M was entirely built in the Netherlands, both the construction of the hull and the final outfitting. It has been certified by Bureau Veritas and carries the notation: Unrestricted navigation, Aut-UMS.
Power is supplied by two Mitsubishi S12A2 main engines which each have a capacity of 862hp at 1,940rpm, turning 1,500mm diameter screws through Reintjes gearboxes. This package provided a 23 ton bollard pull during testing and a maximum speed of approximately 10 knots.
Electric power comes from two Perkins generator sets, each supplying just over 100 kVA.
A TecnoSpirit hydraulic power pack drives the deck equipment, which includes a double drum winch with a 70 ton pull, a tugger winch with a 10 ton pull and a model AKC 210 HE3 HS Marine crane. The ship is also equipped with towing pins and a wire catcher.
