New BPA chairman
(UK) Colin Parker, chief executive of Aberdeen Harbour Board, has been elected chairman of the British Ports Association for the next two years at its AGM in London late last month.
Also elected was Andrew Moffat, chief executive of the Port of Tyne, as vice chairman and Sara Bassett, finance director of Shoreham Port Authority, as treasurer.
Speaking at the lunch afterwards in the presence of over 200 industry delegates and the Ports and Shipping Minister, Mike Penning, Mr Parker said, “I am delighted to become chairman of the association. The BPA has a terrific network of ports representing a host of locations and markets. It will be a privilege to represent their interests at a time when, in spite of economic challenges, ports are being rightly recognised for the huge contributions they make to the economy and to national well being.”
During his address, Mr Parker also paid tribute to his predecessor, Jim Stewart, who continues in his role as chairman of Port Skills and Safety.
