New fireboat for China
The latest in the RAnger 4600 series of Canadian designed Robert Allan fireboats has just been delivered to the Dongguan Fire Services Department in China.
Guan Xiao Er Hao – or Dongguan Fireboat Number 2 is a 46 metre, twin screw, diesel powered vessel specifically designed for marine and shore side fire duties in the Pearl River Estuary and Dongguan harbour environment.
The vessel’s tasks will include being on standby in the petrochemical zone on Dongguan Lisha Island as well as fire fighting operations at offshore installations and in rivers and ports in the area.
The vessel is propelled by a pair of Caterpillar 3516B-HD diesel engines powering at 1864bkW at 1600rpm. Electrical power is generated by two Caterpillar C18 DITA 350kW diesel gensets.
The fire fighting equipment has been supplied by FFS in Norway.
During trials, the fireboat achieved 16 knots and exceeded all performance expectations.
The RAnger class of fireboats are available in a wide range of lengths and Fi-Fi capacity. These designs are generally intended to be used as the starting point for each new fireboat design, in response to each port’s unique operational needs.
