New Furuno marine navigation radar
Japanese marine electronics specialist Furuno has introduced its new solid-state marine navigation radar with Doppler technology.
The DRS4D-NXT radar has pulse compression and Doppler frequency shift sensing technology, built into a compact 24” Radome.
Doppler’s Target Analyser technology will automatically change the colour of targets approaching a boat to clearly show any hazards.
Green echoes are stationary targets, land, or approaching targets moving at a velocity of less than three knots. Echoes dynamically turn red when targets are approaching the vessel at a faster speed.
Almost instantly, target’s speed and course vector will be visible. If the target is hazardous, it will also be displayed in red, making it easier to identify and predict its course.
The radar’s incredible ARPA signal processor will display and track up to 100 targets in a single sweep, with the target theatre being viewed, monitored, and tracked simultaneously, at any range.
It has 3.9-degree horizontal beam width, and Furuno also incorporated the RezBoost beam sharpening technology to increase performance
As well as this, the DRS4D-NXT features bird mode, with a single selection on the MFD, the Radar automatically adjusts settings for echo enhancement to help you locate birds.
