New MAN engine academy

The company has set the academy up so that the service staff of sales partners and certified service outlets can attend three and five day training courses with experienced MAN service staff to help benefit customers.

It’s a big step to ensure the quality of engine servicing for customers and reducing down time due to repair and servicing requirements.

Reiner Roessner, head of sales MAN engines, said: “With the expanded training programme offered by MAN Engine Academy we are contributing to making practical know how on all MAN engines available.”

MAN’s new engine academy is at the same site as MAN engine competence centre which develops, produces and sells diesel and gas engines from 37kW (50hp) up to 1324 kW (1800hp) for many applications including leisure and commercial marine. The centre continually works towards honing MAN engines for their intended markets.

As a result of the quality measures taken at the competence centre – many new products have come to the market, including the new D2868 LE421 and LE422 marine diesel engines for medium and heavy duty operation. The efficient eight cylinder engines are designed primarily for installation in tugs, push boats and heavy working vessels and help to ensure reliable operation with minimal service costs and low fuel consumption.

The new academy is one of a series of investments MAN has made at the Nuremberg site over the past few years – it opened a new development centre in 2010 and a sequencing centre in 2012.
