New offshore wind MPV
Dutch workboat operator Acta Marine is gearing up for Round 3 windfarm development by ordering a new multi purpose vessel available to charter in early 2014.
The vessel is currently under construction in the Netherlands by Maritiem Cluster Friedland and will better position the operator in the burgeoning windfarm market.
Coastal Chariot will be a sister vessel to Acta Marine’s existing DP-1 Coastal Challenger. Both vessels are equipped with 35 tons bollard pull and measure 35 long by 12m wide.
Acta says it is the first to apply this technology on smaller workboats and that it has the most fuel efficient multicast on the market.
The vessel has an operating draft of only 1.8m, which the operator says is unique for a vessel of this power. It means that the vessel is particularly well suited to operating in shallow waters and close to coast lines.
