New steel wire rope lubricant unveiled
UK-based lubricants manufacturer, Metalube, has unveiled its latest range of biodegradable, high performance lubricants, designed to protect steel wire ropes.
The Rope-Tek WRD range features products each made from high performance base oils and thickeners. Each products also contains an advanced additive system that is said to minimise friction and wear, delivering strong corrosion protection.
“Steel wire ropes are complex in construction and are often subject to arduous operating conditions. Movement, such as loading and unloading of the rope, bending and flexing over sheaves and pulleys, creates high load points where wires and strands cross over each other,” said Douglas Hunt, commercial director.
“This can result in fretting wear and corrosion – reducing the life of the rope. The high load carrying solids contained in Rope-Tek form a low friction barrier between the metal surfaces, minimising frictional contact and wear,” he added.
