Oil spill boom for Finland
The Finnish Coastguard’s latest vessel is now well equipped for oil spill response operations after taking delivery of new equipment from UK-based Vikoma International Limited.
Working with Finnish company Mobimar Ltd, Vikoma supplied 800m of its oil containment boom, four boom reels, Mobimar’s hull integrated recovery system, FinnSweep, and other oil recovery systems. The delivery has provided Turva with a recovery capacity of over 1,000m³.
“This was an exciting project for Vikoma to be involved in, especially working very closely with our Finnish partners Mobimar against still international competition,” said Paul Rayner, sales director.
“The climate in Finland offers significant challenges in the winter months and Vikoma’s oil spill equipment was selected by the Finnish Border Guard for their latest hi-tech vessel, as it is well proven around the world and able to work effectively in difficult environments,” he added.
Vikoma International designs, manufactures and installs oil spill containment and recovery equipment from its headquarters on the Isle of Wight, UK.
