Pirate Radio 50th
An MJ contributor has come up with the idea for The Pirate Radio Rhythm ‘n’ Blues & Beat Boat Cruise, which will sail from the Port of Tilbury on 6 August 2014 aboard the classic ocean liner Marco Polo.
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Pirate Radio, the 1965 built, 800 passenger capacity ship will spend three nights at sea, with two afternoons ashore in Antwerp and Amsterdam. Passengers will be able to relive the 1960s club scene to live music by The Rhythm Kings with Eddie Floyd, The Drifters, The Animals, Zoot Money, Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, and The Pretty Things. Legendary period DJs Johnnie Walker, Emperor Rosko, and Dave Cash will also be onboard. Planned activities include ‘all nighters’ on the dance floor and a 60s fashion show.
