Piriou expands range
Piriou Shipyards is expanding its fast passenger supply vessel (FPSV) range with a new 41m vessel, following the delivery of the 53m ‘Bourbon Norte’.
The new vessel, FPSV40, will be based on the same design as the company’s 53m series FPSVs.
Yannick Littoux, spokesperson for Piriou, said: “This vessel is a small sister for the 53m series, keeping the same hull design that maximizes the waterline length and gives a sharp bow to reduce the slamming and therefore increase the comfort of passengers and crew at sea.”
The 53m vessels are each powered by four Cummins KTA50-M2 engines, each producing 1,323kW at 1,900 RPM. The new, smaller vessel will require just three KTA50-M2 engines, each producing 1,193kW at 1,800 RPM.
Propulsion for the new vessel will be by fixed pitch propellers, but an option for water jets is also included in the design. It will be capable of reaching speeds of around 18 knots loaded, 27 knots light boat and 25 knots at 85 maximum continuous rating (MCR) with passengers onboard.
The vessel, still in the design stage, will offer optional layouts to include both a standard 78 passenger arrangement and an option for business-class seating.
A 100m² deck will provide for up to 50 tonnes of cargo.
