Port of London Terminal Boom
In announcing that port terminals and facilities on Londons River Thames handled over 51 million tonnes of cargo last year, the Port of London Authority also said it anticipates that over £ 1.3 billion will be invested in PLA terminals over the next decade. This is in addition to the estimated £ 650 million proposed investment by P&O in the London Gateway container and ro-ro terminal project. Plans include bringing some unused London wharves back into cargo handling use and improving facilities for passenger cruise ships. The recent publication of the Mayors London Plan sets necessary planning policies in place.
