Reach and Rescue new safety equipment

UK based safety equipment company, Reach and Rescue Limited, has designed a Reach and Rescue telescopic pole in conjunction with a UK Fire and Flood Rescue division, in a bid to improve operator safety and capability for water, ice, mud, flood and height related incidents.

The Reach and Rescue Pole has been designed to improve operator safety and capability

The pole, which extends to 17m, has been designed as a time saving device and is used to deploy a flotation or rescue device to a casualty as quickly as possible. The telescopic element allows the pole to be folded down to 2.6m for easy storage and quick release.

The company has created the pole for safe and easy operation in all weather conditions, from either the shore side or onboard a vessel. Its high visibility end section allows the pole to be seen even in lower visibility conditions, making it easier for the casualty to see.

Jo Taylor, business development manager, Reach and Rescue, told Maritime Journal: “We originally designed the pole in conjunction with Warwickshire F&R Service and over the last two years improved certain elements of the product following feedback from Global F&R services. As we engineer and manufacture the product, we can adapt the attachments to suit the requirements of the customer.”

She added: “RWE NPower Renewables, Offshore Rig companies in Italy and Aberdeen, Hughes Sub Surface Engineering and a Turkish yacht manufacturer, Peri Yachts, have purchased a number of poles. We are also in final negotiations with a large maritime supplier in USA to distribute our rescue poles in the maritime and offshore markets and have orders from port companies in the UK.”
