Red7Marine completes SeaVex trial
The UK’s Red7Marine recently trialled its SeaVex excavation equipment on a Lincolnshire windfarm to gauge which areas can be trenched to certain depths using a non-intrusive method avoiding live cables.
Red7 says that SeaVex the only seabed excavation tool of its type capable of operating successfully in ever demanding environmental conditions and soil types.
The SeaVex excavation equipment is based on a hybrid subsea excavation system which is extremely adaptable, compact and controllable. The equipment houses a single pressed impellor complete with a direct drive and torque restrictor driven by a powerful compact hydraulic motor. Fitted with various adjustable outlets at the base of the tool it allows enhanced kPa cutting of a comprehensive range of seabed materials.
SeaVex subsea tools are driven by Red7Marine’s topside environmentally friendly power units. Being ultra compact, they reduce the need for large deck space. The equipment offers the facility to undertake post and pre works surveys through leading sonar and survey packages in both 2D and 3D.
The trial for energy giant, Centrica, was chartered and operated from the DP2 Loch Roag vessel and allowed Red7 to collate results from actual data in varied soils, whilst demonstrating the range of capabilities of the system.
