Rhine LNG Masterplan
The LNG Masterplan for Rhine/Meuse-Main-Danube has been successfully completed, the culmination of which should result in better implementation of LNG infrastructure in the inland water transport sector.
The three year project cost a total of €34 million, 17 million of which were provided by the European Union from the TEN-T Programme.
This final event held between 14 and 16 December 2015 saw almost three hundred LNG stakeholders gather to discuss the latest developments in safety, emergency response and ship design.
Guests were also able to explore the port, visiting the GATE terminal and the Falck Rick training facility for emergency LNG response.
Two LNG vessels were also present at the event – the Danser Group LNG retrofitted container vessel Eiger-Nordwand and Damen’s 100% LNG-fuelled type C tanker EcoLiner.
The event concluded with new LNG Projects being announced, like the new ReaLNG project which involves Shell, the Port of Lübeck, STC-Group and Port of Rotterdam.
