RIBS to go from the safety King

The move is born of King Marine’s perception that the construction industry has been utilising small, unclassified vessels for safety cover, personnel transportation and general workboat duties with, more often than not, inexperienced operators.

As pressure is being brought to bear for all marine civil engineering companies to comply to MCA Codes of practice and to raise safety standards, King Marine now offer for charter most sizes and configurations of MCA coded RIBs. King supply both the vessel and the commercially qualified crew. Bareboat charter is available subject to qualified operators having a suitable induction period on each boat to be chartered.

King Marine is using RIBs supplied by Quinquari Marine, the commercial builders for Humber Inflatables. QuinQuari design, build and fit out wheelhouses and RIBs and continue to stock all appropriate spares, available at short notice and accessible seven days a week. The flexible arrangement between the companies makes dozens vessels readily available at any time. With RIBs already in Europe and the Middle East, mobilisation to other areas of the world can be fairly rapid.

The vessels offered for charter range in size from 6m up to 15m. They are offered with a wide variety of layouts to suit numerous applications in a variety of environments. For long term projects, boats can usually be designed and fitted out to match the criteria set by clients. The 10 and 11m RIBs are available with or without aluminium cabin. Seating can be provided for up to 12 passengers. Engine units can be either outboard or inboard, with the inboard engines coupled to Z-drives or jet units.

As an example, the 11m cabin RIB with twin 250 HP inboards maintains a cruising speed of 30 knots and has a range of 300 nautical miles. It is classed MCA CAT 3/Workboat Code and licensed to carry 12 passengers plus two crew.
