Rugged computer for mobile workers
Sweden’s Handheld Group, which manufactures mobile computers and smartphones, has upgraded its Nautiz X4 rugged mobile handheld, which is especially suited to the mobile marine worker.
The Nautiz X4 was launched earlier this year but it has now been upgraded to run Android 4.2, which will give customers a wider choice of operating systems.
A unique selling point of the Nautiz X4 is that it measures just 156 x 74 x 25.5mm and weighs a mere 330g.
It has a high-brightness, sunlight-readable resistive touchscreen for reliable computing in challenging work environments. The machine comes with either a high-performance 1D laser scanner of a 2D imager for scanning and bar-coding tasks. The device also has a 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash.
Moreover, the Nautiz X4 has an IP65 Ingress Protection rating which means that it’s impervious to dust and highly resistant to water.
It also meets stringent MIL-STD-810G military test standards for overall durability and resistance to humidity, shock, vibration, drops, salt and extreme temperatures.
