Saab Seaeye
French specialist in submarine cable installation, Louis Dreyfus TravOcean, has placed an order with Saab Seaeye for two Leopard ROVs to enable touchdown monitoring and support.
The ROV has eleven thrusters, a large open payload bay, one tonne through-frame lift capability and four point docking system for tooling skids.
Its iCON intelligent control system is said to offer greater flight stability – including pitch and roll stabilisation – even under variable loads and with large tools and sensors deployed.
The control system independently manages each device, including auto-redundancy and works by relocating the ‘brains’ of the system into sensors and actuators around the vehicle. This allows the user access to more information and maintenance is said to be simpler and quicker.
Free from centralised electronics, the Leopard’s distributed intelligence allows for systems to be changed or added without the need to dismantle the vehicle.
Also on offer is simple system reconfiguration and remote internet access for upgrades and support.
