Scorpion Ribs unveils its sting
Scorpion Ribs is the latest user of the Dyena Acceleration Recorder (DaccR), a portable data logger that provides information on ride quality and performance.
“Being able to demonstrate the speed and comfort of Scorpion Ribs in an easy to understand format to our customers allows the boats to sell themselves,” said Patrick Byrne, owner, Scorpion Ribs.
The DaccR, which can be fitted in any position, is proving to be a valuable tool for the development and comparison of fast boats.
Traditionally, most boat operators relied upon subjective comparisons to evaluate the differences between vessels, but varying sea and weather conditions make it unreliable.
Sampling at 2,400 times per second, the recorder continuously monitors the shock and vibrations received by the vessel structure and stores the data to the onboard solid state memory, alongside position, speed, heading and time.
Other users of Dyena systems include the UK Royal Navy, US Navy, US Department of Homeland Security and the RNLI.
