Sealite unveils new LED range

Australia-based Sealite is set to launch a new long range, high intensity LED Range Light designed to give vessels clear night and /or daytime navigation.

The new long range, high intensity LED Range Light is designed to give vessels clear night and /or daytime navigation

The compact light, being unveiled in September, provides over 400,000 candela at 12 watts and is said to have a daytime visible range of more than 5 nautical miles and a night time range of over 23 nautical miles.

“The range light is based on a high efficiency LED positioned behind a high precision optic manufactured by Sealite. The maximum range is achieved by an optic with 3° x 3° divergence. This optic may be varied to accommodate individual customer requirements,” explained Dana Tomaszewicz, systems engineer.

Sealite says its new light is significantly lighter and easier to handle than traditional lights. The low power requirement of the LED light also means it can be easily installed with a solar power system.

The Range Light is also said to be designed ready for immediate interfacing with AIS Type 1 or Type 3 systems, GPS synchronisation and GSM facilities for remote monitoring and control. They also have alarm-ready contacts for remote monitoring to alert to fault conditions.

Programming is achieved via Sealite’s PC configuration tool. The user connects their PC to the lantern via a built-in weather-proof port, eliminating the need to open the unit. It features a number of intensity settings for day, night and twilight and over 130 standard and custom flash codes.
