Seawork 2012: Earlier, bigger, better
Seawork, organised by Mercator Media Ltd, will be celebrating its 15th year in 2012 and although it will take place a little earlier than usual, it promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
This year Seawork will take place on Tuesday 22 May, Wednesday 23 May and Thursday 24 May at its regular Canary Island Fruit Terminal in the ABP Port of Southampton.
The change of dates is purely for this year and was caused by developments in the port. The show reverts to its regular June spot next year.
Exhibitor bookings are going extremely well. By mid-December, nearly 60% of Seawork 2011 exhibitors had rebooked, taking this year’s show to just under 80% sold already.
The Small Business Enterprise Zone is all but sold and the pontoons have been extended by more than 50% this year to accommodate the very eclectic range of 60 working vessels booked, some of which are more than 20m loa.
Other Seawork regular features include Ship Building and Ship Repair Pavilion (in association with the SSA), the Marine Renewables Pavilion, the DiveWork Pavilion, RIBwork, Maritime Training & Careers and the Marine Civils Trails.
Once again, the Seawork Awards Dinner sees the presentation of the Innovations Awards on the Tuesday night in the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel. There’s one new award this year: a Lifetime Achievement Award.

And there’s an invitation only 15th Anniversary Cocktail Party on the Wednesday for exhibitors who have supported the show since it started in 1998.
