Second French ferry

(France) Ferry operators DFDS and LDA have doubled the frequency on the popular Dover – Calais crossing of the English Channel.

A chartered vessel to complement Norman Spirit on the daily service under the French flag will operate from 27 April. The frequency will be doubled to ten daily departures from each port. The route is operated in partnership between DFDS and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA).

The second vessel has been chartered from Brittany Ferries and will be renamed prior to entry into service. It was built in 1992 and offers facilities for 1,212 passengers, 550 cars and a freight capacity of 1,530 lane metres. It will fly the French flag and be operated by a French crew, meaning the total number of French employees will increase to about 300.
