SevenCs software for Portsmouth pilots
Following a series of trials with a range of Portable Pilot Units (PPU), UK-based Portsmouth International Port has chosen ORCA Pilot G2 as the navigation tool for its pilot boats.
The new software, which is produced by Germany-based SevenCs, is a modern navigation software specially developed for touch screen operation. It works as a stand-alone system but also integrates server-based operational information – a major contribution to pilotage safety management and navigation.
Ben McInnes, deputy harbour master and Portsmouth pilot said: “The new software is easy to use and offers amazing capabilities. It is a clear step forward to more safety and efficiency for our daily operation.”
The SevenCs solution offers the pilot organisation freedom in selecting their preferred hardware and sensors. At the same time, SevenCs can produce high accurate bathymetric charts (bENC) which allow the pilots to view their detailed survey and sounding data on the same device.
“After successful projects with tailor made products in Australia and Germany where we received the prestigious Safety at Sea Award, we are very happy to welcome Portsmouth Port as our first UK client for the new generation of our PPU software,” added Bjoern Roehlich, sales director, SevenCs.
The fully configured units were handed over to the pilots together with a one-day on-site training course.
