Ship to shore power
The new High Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) at Sweden’s Port of Ystad is creating significant interest in shipping circles.
The port recently held a technical seminar to demonstrate the benefits of ship to shore power in conjunction with Cavotec, ABB, Processkontroll Elektriskaco, Grontmij, Polferries and Unity Line.
Unity Lines’ MS Skania and Polferries’ MS Wawel were the first vessels to be connected to the HVSC at the port – the remaining six ships which call at the port will connect later this year or in the first half of 2014.
