Single Branding for DaimlerChrysler Marine Diesels
All Daimler-Chrysler marine engines will now be singlebranded as MTU regardless of whether they are manufactured by the Detroit Diesel Corporation in Michigan USA or by MTU in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The single brand strategy has been defined since DaimlerChrysler AG acquired the Detroit Diesel Corporation in October 2000.
Merseyside is already home to some 500 maritime related companies which have a workforce of 6,000 people and a combined turnover of £1.3 billion. The cluster will promote the advantages offered by the region to attract new companies, create new jobs and increase tonnage by 3% annually.
DaimlerChrysler now focuses its marine and other off-highway activities in a single business unit called DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway. It is one of the largest manufacturers of diesel engines and is now marketing its Series 2000 and 4000 units as ‘World Engines’. All marine engines built after 1 January 2003 will have identical technical features regardless of where they are manufactured. Previously market specific options are now available globally, giving shipyards and operators a broader range of choice.
