Spanish links

LD Lines has announced plans to further increase its ferry service network to Spain with the addition of a weekly return sailing to Gijón, linking in with its existing France (St.Nazaire) – Spain (Gijón) route and a recently launched new service between Poole UK and Santander.

The operator will also be introducing an Ireland – France – Spain weekly service between Rosslare in southern Ireland and Gijón via St.Nazaire on the west coast of France.

The major developments follow positive early haulier response to LD Lines’ new Poole – Santander route, with freight traffic ultilisation of up to 90% since the service commenced in early November.

LD Lines is now offering the only UK – Spain – UK service bypassing the weekend driving ban in France by providing weekend sailings between Poole and Santander.

The service expansion commenced 5 January 2014 and for the first time will provide ferry links between the Northern Spanish port of Gijón and Poole and Rosslare, as part of a two ship operation combining the vessels Norman Asturias and sister ship Scintu.
