Surveyor Interceptor success
Sweden-based high resolution subsea survey provider, MMT, and Reach Subsea, have finalised successful offshore tests on the new Surveyor Interceptor ROV (SROV).
The survey with the new SROV from vessel Edda Fonn was carried out to collected background data for a specialised handling system to test speed, manoeuvrability, stability, cable drag and data quality and density.
“It is a very competent machine operating faster than WROVs and AUVs with unsurpassed accuracy and data quality,” said Ola Oskarsson, founder and project manager, SROV.
“The vehicle is robust and can operate for long periods underwater thus being a tool to make pipeline surveys and inspections more effective,” he added.
MMT and Reach Subsea’s results of the tests demonstrates the design speed of eight knots was reached. The companies say the vehicle produces high density data at six knots as well as four knots when operating close to pipe.
Mr Oskarsson adds that the SROV, as a survey platform, is stable and multibeam data has less than 0.4% noise.
MMT collects, processes and visualises the conditions of the seabed and offers surveys in bathymetric, geophysical and geotechnical services, specialising in the oil and gas, hydrography and renewable energy and marine cable sectors.
