Towage joint venture
Poole, UK-based Griffin Towage & Marine, which has offered towage and tug services for the past fifteen years, has formed a joint venture with Dawlish based TMS Maritime. The new business, Griffin TMS Ltd will continue to operate from their Hamworthy dock in Poole Harbour, but will market the fleet of four tugs with smart new branding and paintwork. A major upgrade of the vessels is also planned over the next few months.
Griffin Towage & Marine founder Jon Evelegh announced the news as “an exciting way forward for the business, opening up many new opportunities that wouldn’t be available if the business had stayed in it’s original form”.
Peter Stenner, Managing Director of TMS Maritime said, “We have been a regular customer of Griffin’s for many years and this investment in the joint enterprise will create a number of synergies and benefits for both organisations”.
Jon Evelegh will continue to run the fleet as Operations Director and Richard Balfry from TMS steps in as Managing Director of the new company. All existing employees are being retained.
