Trelleborg acquires Maritime International
Swedish engineering company Trelleborg has announced that it has completed the acquisition of US-based Maritime International, through its business area Trelleborg Offshore & Construction.
Maritime International is a manufacturer that designs and produces marine fender systems and other quay wall accessories.
“We are committing significant resources to our business in North America, having recently opened our new American headquarters. This strengthens our local presence further and reinforces Trelleborg’s leading position globally,” said Richard Hepworth, president of Trelleborg’s marine systems operation.
With its head office and main manufacturing facility in Broussard, Louisiana, Maritime International sells primarily to the North American market and employs around 90 people.
David LeBlanc, president of Maritime International, said: “We have built strong relationships with the North of America and now boosted by the financial strength of Trelleborg, we look forward to continuing to provide the excellent products and services that customers from both legacy companies expect.”
Trelleborg’s marine systems operation already has two sites in America, the first in Berryville, Virginia for manufacturing foam-based marine fenders and buoys. As well as a sales and business development office in Houston, Texas.
