UK transport project of the year

DP World London Gateway has won the ‘Construction and Engineering Project of the Year’ award at the UK’s national Transport Awards 2014.

The port beat stiff competition from the Highways Agency and Gatwick Airport to win the prestigious award, which recognises successes achieved on national and local transport projects supported by the UK Government’s Department for Transport.

Opened in late 2013, DP World London Gateway incorporates Europe’s largest logistics park.

London Gateway’s six new deep water berths add 3.5m teu to the nation’s port capacity helping to meet the infrastructure demand resulting from the growth in ship size.

The port has been modelled on DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali facility in Dubai, which has been voted ‘Best Seaport in the Middle East’ for 19 consecutive years.
