Ukrainian seaports increase cargo turnover
According to the online data of the Ukrainian Seaports Authority, in January 2017 the volume of cargo handling in Ukrainian seaports reached over 10 million tons, which is 14.6% more than in the similar period of 2016.
Export cargo handling totalled over 8 million tons (30.3% growth as compared to 2016), imports were down One million 423 thousand tons (9% decrease compared with the same period in 2016).
Container handling increased by 30.5% during the reporting period and amounted to 48,911 TEU.
Almost twofold growth was registered in specialized seaport of Oktiabrsk (+86.6%). Furthermore, the growth of turnover showed the ports of Kherson (+33.1%), Yuzhnyi (+20.9%), Odessa (+20.4%), Illichivsk (+16.3%) and Mykolaiv (+14.8%).
