Wärtsilä launches innovation competition
Finnish marine equipment manufacturing company, Wärtsilä, in connection with start-up event Slush, has launched an innovation contest, aimed at start-up companies and entrepreneurs.
The Wärtsilä Marine Mastermind contest hopes to find new and unique digital services for the marine industry.
Tero Hottinen, general manager of business innovation at Wärtsilä Services, who will be running the innovation contest, said: “The key criteria that we will emphasise during evaluation are the usability of the solution within the marine business, innovativeness, customer focus and the business potential and scalability of the solution.”
The winner will get to experience a 30-day development sprint supported by Shift Actions, a specialist in agile concept and product development. Wärtsilä experts will also be on hand to help further develop the successful idea.
The competition officially launches on 26 October with submissions being accepted from 12 November, following the Slush Clean Solutions event in Helsinki.
The closing date for applications is 31 December and the winner will be chosen by international jury in February. The winner will be announced in March 2016.
