Work begins on King Point Marina
Work has begun at the new King Point Marina in Plymouth in the UK – when completed, the new marina at Millbay with have berthing facilities for 171 vessels.
Waterfront regeneration expert, Sutton Harbour Holdings plc, has already begun the process of shoreside piling and wave gates will be installed at the marina entrance in April.
Building work is expected to be completed by early August and the marina and shoreside facilities should be officially opened in late summer.
Jason Schofield, chief executive, Sutton Harbour Holdings plc, said: “King Point Marina will extend our existing operation of high quality marina facilities at Sutton Harbour, enable more boat owners to experience the excellent sailing waters we have here in the South West, and reinforce Plymouth’s position as one of the UK’s leading marine destinations.”
The marina will be the centrepiece at Millbay for the English Cities Fund (ECf) regeneration which will transform 20 acres of former Plymouth dockside in a vibrant waterfront city quarter.
Building work is being carried out by Exeter based construction company, Devon Contractors and marine design and construction leader, Walcon Marine.
