Zeeland acquires site
Agreements between Zeeland Seaports, the Dutch company UTB and the American concern Century were concluded for the takeover of the foundry and the anode plant on the former ZALCO site.
The takeover means that half of the original site will again become active. The other half, where the aluminium smelter is located, will be dismantled and then provide prospects for Zeeland Seaports to develop new water related activities. Zeeland Seaports expects to be able to put this site to good use.
Zeeland Seaports operates the ports of Vlissingen and Terneuzen in an area located at the mouth of the Western Scheldt.
