Four vessels overhauled for North Star
An extensive package of overhaul and maintenance has been completed on Volvo Penta engines in the UK’s largest offshore fleet.
Royston, which has facilities in Nigeria, Western Australia and the Asia-Pacific region as well as the UK, has overhauled the engines on four offshore vessels for North Star Shipping.
Engine blocks were disassembled so that cylinder heads, fuel pumps and injectors could be installed, and valves, pistons and conrods, cylinder liners, bearing blocks and crankshaft were all checked and cleaned.
”Water pumps, fuel injectors, cylinders and turbochargers, camshaft bearings, main bearings and gears were also overhauled and replaced where necessary among other essential repair and replacement work undertaken by engineers, who completed incremental load testing in line with the engine manufacturer’s specifications,” said Royston.

The vessels overhauled were Grampian Talisman, Grampian Endurance, Grampian Talisker and Grampian Conquest.
