ECOncrete expands marine infrastructure reach
ECOncrete has secured a US$14m fundraise to accelerate sustainable marine infrastructure projects focused on biodiversity enhancement and climate resilience worldwide.
The New York-headquartered company will use the funding to expand its bio-enhancing marine construction technology across coastal protection, ports and offshore infrastructure projects.
Led by Builders Vision, the round also included Barclays Climate Ventures, Monaco’s ReOcean Fund, BDT & MSD through Oceans Catalyst, DCP and Open Road Impact.

Nature-positive assets
ECOncrete said rising demand for resilient marine infrastructure and nature-positive coastal assets is driving its next phase of global growth.
So far, the company has deployed its technology in more than 20 marine infrastructure projects globally over the past 18 months, creating more than 90,000m² of habitat while achieving three to four times revenue growth.
Its Coastalock systems are already installed at major ports, including Esbjerg, coastal defence schemes and offshore infrastructure assets from Rotterdam to New Zealand.
Among its flagship case studies is the Port of San Diego, where ECOncrete’s Coastalock system replaced shipping channel banks with biodiversity-enhancing shoreline protection.
The project demonstrated significantly greater marine biodiversity than adjacent structures and led to an expanded installation programme in early 2026.
In New York City, ECOncrete has contributed to waterfront resilience projects including East Side Coastal Resiliency, Brooklyn Bridge Park and Staten Island Breakwaters (pictured), integrating marine construction with storm protection and ecological restoration.
At Spain’s Canary Islands, the company also protected subsea power cables with concrete structures that rapidly matched surrounding reef biodiversity, supporting both critical infrastructure and marine ecosystems.
