MAP secures new contracts at Seawork
Marine Automation Propulsion Ltd (MAP) has expanded its business activities by recently securing new contracts with a number of leading shipyards across the UK following a successful presence at Seawork 2010.
The Bournemouth based company specialises in automation, monitoring and ship/engine alarm systems. MAP Ltd has expanded exponentially over recent years, working in close partnership with German ship alarm system specialist Boening and propulsion control experts Bosch Rexroth to provide innovative cutting edge automation technology. MAP Ltd represents Boening and Bosch Rexroth not only in the UK but also in Denmark, Norway and the Benelux.
Building on its solid reputation the company has recently signed an extended contract with Isle of Wight based South Boats to supply its systems for a new fleet of work boats. In addition MAP is currently working on major projects for other UK boat builders arranged geographically from the Pendennis shipyard in Cornwall to Alnmaritec in Northumbria.
For South Boats and Alnmaritec, MAP is building integrated bridge systems for wind farm support vessels which incorporate Furuno navigation equipment, CCTV, and the monitoring of engines, generators, AC/DC supply, CPP, tanks and navigation lights.
Its systems are not only technologically advanced but are as environmentally conscious as possible. Using recyclable lead free materials, MAP’s systems utilize plug and play CAN-bus technology designed to de-centralise the system, doing away with the need for large multiple wiring looms. Optimising the running of the vessel to reduce fuel consumption in turn minimises the carbon footprint, the use of raw materials, and the environmental impact as much as possible.
MAP works closely with engine manufacturers such as MTU, CAT and MAN, integrating engines along with generators and all other key ship systems, including any third party equipment (such as DEIF PPU-3 units), into its monitoring and alarm systems.
