Buoys and lights for Kenyan ports

Under the contract, Tideland will supply a total of 14 SB-285 2.5metre Sentinel buoys, equipped with Tideland self-contained, self-powered SolaLED-140 lanterns and moorings.Each buoy is also fitted with a V03 Informer AIS AtoN unit, which broadcasts the position of the buoy and its status to shipping. The Tideland Informer AIS AtoN also monitors all aspects of the lantern and battery conditions, communicating via VHF with the Base Station running the Tideland Smart Display, an AIS viewer that also displays the remote monitoring information. The technical and support package offered by Tideland includes a full training programme and assistance with commissioning.

Tideland’s SB-285P buoys are rotationally moulded in UV-stabilised polyethylene with the float section filled with expanded polystyrene. Ballast is internally located and mooring/lifting eyes are moulded into the buoy body to ensure a smooth, easily maintained external profile. There are no external corrodible parts, the buoys are corrosion-resistant, never need painting and are unsinkable.

SolaMax-140 is a long life, long range LED lantern with a range of 5NM and a wide beam lens configuration, making it specially effective in compensating for buoy roll. It incorporates an integral solar panel and a sealed lead acid battery.

SolaMAX-140 offers operators a minimal maintenance regime coupled with a service life of seven years on station in the most demanding environments. Long life LEDs and high integrity electronics housed in a tough UV-resistant polycarbonate enclosure ensure that lantern will not need to be opened during its service life and will even withstand being submerged in salt water.
