CHAIN links French renewables to Seawork
The Channel Innovation Network (CHAIN), a project part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, will be exhibiting at Seawork 2013 and making a presentation about maritime business opportunities in Bretagne and Normandy.
CHAIN aims to bring together business development agencies to create a network of business centres, incubators, business hubs and science parks in France and England, with the objective of improving mutual knowledge and understanding.
France is on the threshold of becoming a significant player in marine renewable energy and CHAIN’s aim at Seawork is to spotlight some of the local French marine science and technology companies ready to provide services relating to offshore wind, tidal current, tidal range, and wave energy provision. A complete range of services to be discovered at Seawork include resource assessment, network integration, energy storage, industrial storage, and environmental impact studies.
A number of full scale demonstration projects in France to be referenced include those for wave energy, EDF Bréhat tidal energy, Bordeaux river energy, floating offshore wind, Winflo innovative technologies, Sabella tidal currents energy, the Orca tidal current turbine, the Blustream underwater turbine, and the Bilboquet project, which recycles the energy of ocean swell.
